My Everchanging Garden Recipe Book
Over the years I've tried many different ways of keeping track of my recipes. I've tried binders and index cards. I've marked the front of cookbooks and magazines with stickers to identify where my favourite recipes are. I've tried Word, Filemaker databases and more. Nothing seems just right. I wanted to have all my recipes in one location, with the ability to add side notes now and later on. And wouldn't it be nice if I could access my recipes while I was grocery shopping.
While there are a lot of websites out there to do this, I also didn't want to deal with the clutter and requests to 'up sell' me other features. I just wanted an on-line cookbook! So here's mine. Feel free to browse, cook and enjoy.
Recipe Index
This website contains my personal recipes, all of which I have made, many regularly. You'll find recipes for dinner, cookies, cakes, lunch, snacks, salads and more. I have categorized my recipes based on our own preferences. Browse through the menu on the left or search by meal section above and see if anything interests you.
Gardening and Cooking
I would say that my cooking style varies from comfort food to impromptu light gourmet. While we enjoy some fancier meals on occasion, most often meals are pretty simple. We have a preference for Mediterranean style foods so we grow our own basil, garlic and tomatoes in abundance. While the garlic keeps, I freeze basil and tomatoes for use during the winter months. Look up my recipe for pesto sauce under Sauces & More to see how to freeze pesto.
Expanding our vegetable garden in recent years has really focused our attention on new and interesting side dishes. Nothing is more exciting that purple potatoes or purple carrots to excite the palette. Kohlrabi, swiss chard, parsnips and beets have become regulars on our table, largely due to growing these in the garden. Enticing two young boys to eat their vegetables is a little easier when they come directly from our own back yard.
