Garden Design Plan for Hawthorn Grove
We were fortunate to have a natural backdrop of Hawthorn trees directly across from our main Kitchen Patio Garden. Although it was largely overgrown and filled with undesirable weeds (garlic mustard, raspberry cane and the dreaded grape vine), some hard work and a chainsaw helped turn the area into a beautiful woodland garden we call the Hawthorn Grove. We have worked over the past few years underplanting the hawthorns with native woodland perennials and shrubs however we have found it a struggle to keep more invasive weeds at bay. In some areas we have planted evergreens. While not native they have helped keep maintenance down.
