East Garden Design Plan

The garden at the east side of our home is really just a link between the front and back gardens and provides interest from the road. The garden design elements here involved repetition of colour from other areas of the garden as well as using low maintenance shrubs and groundcover. Purple Sandcherries have been replaced with purple ninebark and weigela in order to reduce Japanese Beetle damage to the gardens. Similarly a Clump Birch which was attacked each year by insects was replaced recently with a native Canadian Redbud. A series of four Amur Maples lines the east side of our yard. These will be enhanced with other trees and shrubs over the next few years. The beds are also flanked by a sugar maple to the south and a ginkgo biloba to the north that are planted directly in the lawn.

A garden plan and complete plant list appears below while pictures of the front yard can be seen in the Entrance Garden Gallery.
