Fall Colours
Gallery > Fall Garden
Fall is one of my favourite times of year. The gardens look lush, much of the weeding and heavy watering demands have slowed, and best of all the colours are so majestic in fall. Some years are better than others (2010 was a great year for fall colour) but there is always something to enjoy.

Maples of course are a favourite for great fall colour. This is Acer platanoides x truncatum 'Keithsform' (Norwegian Sunset).

2010 was one the best years I remember for fall colour in the garden.

Burning Bush and Pee Gee Hydrangea are consistent fall colour favourites.

Spirea will provide red to orange colours, sometimes on just one section of the plant, some years all over.

Berries add fall interest. Here are berries of Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima' (Red Chokeberry).

I have this combination in several locations in the garden -- Burning Bush with Goldmound Spirea.

Unusual to see but this is a red branch on some forsythia in the back woodland.

Most years Fothergilla leaves fall before they colour in my garden but when they last it is worth the wait.

Planted in 2010, I can't wait until this Nyssa sylvatica grows to dominate its location in my back yard.

Endless Summer Hydrangea provide not only all summer blooms, but great red fall foliage, as do most hydrangea.

2010 was one the best years I remember for fall colour in the garden.
