A Visit To Charleston South Carolina

Gallery >Charleston

A trip to Charleston, South Carolina during March break was a delight for our entire family. Charleston is full of wonderful architecture, history, beautiful plantations and gardens as well as plenty of things for the kids to see and do.

We rented a house in the resort area on the Isle of Palms. It was a great choice for us, offering quiet streets where we could walk during the evening and easy access to the ocean and beach for the kids. Although it was too cold to swim, we really enjoyed searching for seashells along the beach front.

During the day, we toured historic Charleston, visited Fort Sumter and enjoyed the gardens at two plantations (Magnolia Plantation and Middleton Place). For the kids enjoyment (and OK the adults too) we visited the South Carolina Aquarium and the Fire Museum in North Charleston which had an amazing display of antique fire engines. We spent more than half a day touring the naval ships at Patriots Point including an aircraft carrier and submarine.

Below is just a sampling of some of the sites of Charleston (Press the refresh button to restart the video).
